Makkah hosts the opening of the ninth conference of ministers of awqaf and Islamic affairs in Islamic countries.


The promotion of moderation was the focus of the 9th Conference of Ministers of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Islamic Countries, which got underway in Makkah. Ministers, muftis, and chiefs of Islamic councils from sixty various nations are gathered at the summit.


Discussion points include countering extremism, fostering tolerance and coexistence, and refining the idea of citizenship in Muslim nations.

With the theme "the role of endowments and Islamic affairs ministries in promoting and consolidating the principles and values of moderation," the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance opened today in Makkah as the host of the 9th Conference of Ministers of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs in Islamic Countries.Ministers, muftis, heads of Islamic councils, groups, and organizations from sixty different nations are present at the conference.The importance of the role of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was emphasized by Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, as well as the Executive Chairman of the conference. By attending the conference, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud highlighted Saudi Arabia's moderate viewpoints and applauded the government's initiatives to advance moderate Islam and counter extremism.Discussions on issues like combating terrorism and extremism, shielding media outlets from extremist speech, fostering tolerance and coexistence, improving the notion of citizenship in Muslim nations, refining religious discourse, and exploring Islamic identity in the context of globalization of culture are all on the conference list.Morocco's Minister of Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, emphasized that his country is dedicated to maintaining religious teachings by supporting the neutrality of mosques and promoting moderation.In addition to fighting extremism and violence, Osama Al-Azhari, the Minister of Endowments for Egypt, stressed the importance of challenging extremist narratives based on common values and identities.The Gambia's Minister of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs, Hamat Bah, praised Saudi Arabia's efforts to encourage global moderation in his statement. Conversely, Dr. Mohammed Bin Said Al Mamari, Oman's Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, spoke about worldwide issues like hate speech and moral inequalities.Yemen's Minister of Endowments and Guidance, Mohammed 'Aida Shabiba, chaired the first session of the conference, which addressed the increasing threats posed by terrorism and extremism as well as the critical need to shield platforms from divisive speech.Throughout the day, there will be additional sessions that delve much further into other significant issues.
