On May 15, 2025, pilgrims in Bangladesh began benefiting from a streamlined baggage sorting and coding system at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, under the Makkah Route Initiative.
Managed by the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, this system codes and tags each pilgrim’s luggage with detailed flight and accommodation data. A corresponding passport label and identification card ensure accuracy. Upon arrival in the Kingdom, luggage is automatically transported directly to the pilgrim’s residence in Makkah or Madinah—eliminating airport delays and adding peace of mind.
This thoughtful enhancement reflects Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals to improve religious tourism logistics, elevate service quality, and foster international cooperation—ensuring that every pilgrim’s journey is dignified, efficient, and spiritually enriching.
