Makkah to host SMIIC meetings from Oct 30 to Nov 1

Makkah, October 26, 2023, Makkah is set to host the upcoming meetings of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) from October 30 to November 1 at the Hilton Makkah Convention Hotel. This significant event will bring together over 45 Islamic nations along with international and regional organizations.


SMIIC's primary mission is to develop standard specifications and foster collaboration in Islamic standardization efforts, thereby promoting economic and industrial growth and facilitating increased inter-trade benefits among member states. The institute is committed to ensuring active engagement from all stakeholders and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure quality and strengthening communication between participating countries.


Saudi Arabia's role as the host underscores its pivotal position regionally and globally in promoting cooperation and collaborative Islamic endeavors across various sectors. The meetings will be held under the patronage of Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO), with Saad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, SASO Governor and Chairman of SMIIC Board of Directors, presiding over the proceedings.
