March 25, 2025, SINGAPORE: Richard Mansell made a crucial birdie putt on the final hole to claim his first DP World Tour title at the weather-affected Porsche Singapore Classic, winning by a single shot on Sunday.
To avoid a playoff with Japan’s Keita Nakajima at Laguna National Golf Resort Club, Mansell reached the green in two on the par-five 18th. He then rolled his eagle attempt within six feet of the pin and calmly made the winning putt, finishing with a six-under-par 66 in the final round.
“I wish this win had come earlier. I played so well today to get into that position, and I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time,” said the 29-year-old. “So many people have supported and believed in me when I stopped doing it myself.”
The victory was particularly meaningful for Mansell, as he had come close to winning several times on the tour but struggled with self-belief. “I had quite a few close calls and didn’t get it done. Looking back, I probably should have kept doing what I was doing, and it probably would have happened a lot sooner,” he reflected.
Nakajima posted a bogey-free 65 with seven birdies to finish second, while Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin and France’s Adrien Saddier shared third place.
The tournament, initially scheduled for four days, was reduced to 54 holes due to a three-day monsoon in Singapore, which forced the cancellation of the first round.
