Marwan Al-Hazmi updates on fight against narcotics smuggling in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, September 20, 2023, Major Marwan Al-Hazmi, the official spokesman for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), recently updated the public on the latest developments in the fight against the narcotics smuggling and sales networks that threaten the safety of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its youth. An attempt to smuggle 7,920,000 amphetamine pills was successfully prevented as a result of these measures. The pills were discovered when customs officials at Al-Batha Port in the Eastern Region stopped a shipment of plastic panels. The UAE's corresponding agency helped carry out the operation, while the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) also played a role. Two foreign nationals from Syria and four Saudi nationals were caught in the Riyadh area when the package was intercepted. They have been submitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office for further prosecution after preliminary legal procedures were taken against them.

The police and border patrol want everyone to report anything they know about drug trafficking and smuggling. In Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern regions, dial 911 to report an incident; in the rest of the Kingdom, dial 999. In addition to dialing 995, you can also send an email to [email protected] to get in touch with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control. We promise to treat all reports with the strictest confidence.
