New York, September 18, 2023, The Music Commission and the Saudi Theater and Performing Arts Commission presented a concert titled "Masterpieces of Saudi Music" at New York's Metropolitan Opera House Theater at Lincoln Center today, with the support of Saudi Arabia's Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan. Prince Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the United States, Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan, and a slew of foreign dignitaries were among those in attendance. For the concert's opening, Saudi Music Commission CEO Paul Pacifico spoke, calling the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir "the first national cultural asset to be developed by the Saudi Music Commission as one of many initiatives taken to develop a comprehensive and sustainable music sector in the Kingdom under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, in line with Saudi Vision 20." The concert featured performances by 80 musicians from the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir.
He remarked that the event was significant because it would feature "a blend of traditional and folk music, as well as dances from across the Kingdom's 13 diverse regions, each with their own costumes, customs, and musical traditions."
The "Masterpieces of Saudi Music" event in New York's Metropolitan Opera House Theater is the show's third and final stop on a tour that began in Paris and continued on to Mexico City.
One of the major goals of Saudi Vision 2030 is to increase cultural exchange, and concerts like this one help to do just that by introducing the world to the diversity of Saudi music and performing arts.
