The Dammam Emirate in Saudi Arabia was established on June 8, 2024. During the 1445 AH Hajj season, Matarat Holding was able to successfully equip the Kingdom's airports to accommodate the flow of pilgrims arriving by air. The firm reports that more than 1.1 million pilgrims have already arrived at the designated airports to complete the Hajj ceremonies. Matarat Holding executed a comprehensive operational strategy in collaboration with 27 government, security, and operational institutions. We designed this plan to ensure pilgrims had a pleasant journey.
More than 21,000 staff, spread out throughout major airports, are committed to providing excellent service to airline passengers. The six major airports equipped with thirteen travel lounges are the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, the Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, the Prince Abdul Mohsen bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Yanbu, the Taif International Airport, the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and the King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.106 different airlines are responsible for the almost 1.4 million pilgrims who arrive by plane from outside the UK. We have devised a comprehensive plan to manage the situation.
We expect more than 15 million international passengers to arrive or leave the country via these six airports during the coming Hajj season; this includes both arrival and departure. To support the success of the Hajj season 1444 AH, MATARAT Holding launched the initiative of the "Traveler Without Bag" service; it gives the pilgrims the opportunity to finalize the travel procedures and check in their baggage twenty-four hours prior to their flight from their countries of origin. You can access this service from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and from Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah.
A record number of passengers went through Saudi airports at the peak of the Umrah season, in the last third of the holy month of Ramadan 1445 AH. More than 12.5 million people traveled via a number of airports in Saudi Arabia. One hundred different carriers performed over 86,000 flights, reaching unprecedented heights. This is a 13% increase compared to the 1444 AH season. Matarat Holding is responsible for managing 27 Saudi Arabian airports through its respective companies. The company's goal is to expand and upgrade these airports in accordance with Vision 2030's objectives and the Kingdom's rapid growth. Contributing to the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, as well as the National Aviation Strategy, is required.
