Riyadh, September 26, 2023, Hanena Ould Sidi, Mauritania's Minister of National Defense, and Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, acting secretary general of the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), met at Nawaksut. The Islamic Republic of Mauritania supports the IMCTC's efforts to fight terrorism and its financing and rejects violence and extremism, the Mauritanian minister stated during the meeting. The Islamic Republic of Mauritania is critical to the Sahel region's war against terrorism, and Major General Al-Moghedi emphasized the country's significant influence on centrism and moderation in the Maghreb.
Given that the Islamic Republic of Mauritania is one of the coalition's 42 members, the goal of these trips is to update member governments on the most recent developments in the battle against terrorism.
