Riyadh, February 4, 2025 – In a significant diplomatic exchange, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to the Royal Court at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh today. The meeting marked a notable moment in the strengthening of Saudi-German ties, as both leaders expressed their desire to further enhance the multifaceted relationship between their two countries.


Upon his arrival, HRH the Crown Prince offered a warm welcome to President Steinmeier and his accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant and fruitful visit to the Kingdom. President Steinmeier, in turn, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the hospitality and gracious reception extended to him by the Saudi leadership.


The discussions between the Crown Prince and the German President focused on various aspects of bilateral relations, with both leaders emphasizing their shared interest in deepening cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, technology, and cultural exchange. They explored a range of opportunities for collaboration, recognizing the mutual benefits of stronger ties in areas such as renewable energy, defense, and innovation.


Beyond the bilateral relationship, the two leaders also engaged in talks on pressing regional and international developments. They exchanged views on the current geopolitical landscape, discussing efforts to address key issues affecting both the Middle East and Europe. The high-level meeting was attended by a number of senior Saudi officials, underscoring the importance of the visit. Among those present were Riyadh Region Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz; Minister of State and Cabinet Member Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz; Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal; Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz; Minister of the National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz; and Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan. Additionally, Minister of State and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban; Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid Al-Kassabi; Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan; and Minister of Investment Eng. Khalid Al-Falih were also in attendance, highlighting the comprehensive nature of the discussions.


On the German side, President Steinmeier was accompanied by a distinguished delegation, including Katja Kuehl, Federal Parliament member and Minister of State at the German Federal Foreign Office, German Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Michael Kindsgrab, and other senior officials. Their participation underscored Germany’s commitment to fostering a deeper and more strategic relationship with the Kingdom.


As both leaders expressed mutual respect and shared aspirations for the future, today’s meeting reflects the ongoing commitment of both Saudi Arabia and Germany to strengthening their long-standing ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration. The diplomatic engagement between the two nations holds great promise for advancing shared goals in trade, innovation, security, and international cooperation, and marks a significant step forward in the partnership between Saudi Arabia and Germany.
