Mawani and Reviva Sign a Contract to Build a Marine and Industrial Waste Recycling Plant at the Islamic Port of Jeddah


The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and Global Environmental Management Services Ltd. (Reviva) signed an agreement to develop a marine and industrial waste recycling plant at Jeddah Islamic Port.


The project will cover a total area of 10,000 square meters and cost thirty million Saudi Riyals.


This is consistent with the program’s aim to enhance Saudi Arabia’s role as a nexus and nucleus for regional and international logistics which is respectful to the environment as well as promoting the circular economy



Riyadh, June 24, 2024. Media centre: The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) signed an agreement with Global Environmental Management Services Ltd. (Reviva), a SIRC Group company, today on the development of a marine and industrial waste recycling facility at Jeddah Islamic Port; The project will cover a total area of 10,000 square meters and cost thirty million Saudi Riyals. Omar bin Talal Hariri, President of Mawani, and Eng. Ziad bin Mohammed Al-Shiha, Chief Executive Officer of SIRC, signed the agreement in the presence of other officials. The implementation of this initiative is a component of Mawani's ongoing efforts to foster environmental sustainability, safeguard marine safety, and establish a maritime industry that is economically sustainable.


The main goal of the company is to help Saudi Arabia to be recognized as a global logistics center linking three continents as stated in the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and the Green Ports Initiative. As a result, the new plant will help to enhance recycling rates and create valuable resources from waste materials thus facilitating the development of a strong circular economy in the Kingdom. In addition to providing comprehensive solutions for waste management and recycling, it would also offer industrial maintenance services, by-product recycling, and transportation services. By reducing garbage generation and enhancing waste management operations, these services would contribute to environmental protection.


The partnership between Mawani and Reviva will not only assist the Kingdom in achieving its waste management objectives as outlined in Saudi Vision 2030, but it will also facilitate the expansion of the private sector's role in fostering economic growth. The plan aims to rank the Jeddah Islamic Port among the top ten ports in the world. In addition to focusing on emissions reduction and climate change control, Mawani is committed to strengthening public-private partnerships in order to boost the Kingdom's ports' global commercial appeal. Mawani is committed to launching pioneering initiatives connected to the Saudi Green Initiative.
