Riyadh, March 27, 2024, The Saudi Ports Authority, known as "Mawani," recently announced the introduction of a new service named "RGI" by Unifeeder at Jeddah Islamic Port. This service marks a significant step in establishing a crucial link between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Indian ports, aiming to bolster trade and provide efficient solutions for exporters and suppliers.
The RGI service is designed to facilitate trade between the two countries, offering swift and secure transportation options. This development underscores the growing confidence of investors in Saudi Arabia's ports and underscores the importance of maritime transport and logistics services. It also highlights the capabilities and advantages of Jeddah Islamic Port as a key player in facilitating international trade.
Jeddah Islamic Port, with a remarkable throughput capacity of 130 million tons, stands as the leading port in the Kingdom for imports and exports. It also serves as the primary re-export hub in the Red Sea, boasting 62 multi-purpose berths. The newly introduced shipping service connects Jeddah Islamic Port with several significant ports, including Mundra and Nhava Sheva in India, Jebel Ali in the UAE, and Sokhna in Egypt. The service operates regular weekly trips with a substantial capacity of up to 2,824 standard containers.
Furthermore, ongoing development efforts have recently concluded in the port's North Container Terminal, involving investments totaling 6.6 billion Saudi Riyals. These development works have significantly enhanced the port's operational capabilities, increased its overall capacity, and improved the efficiency of its logistics services. These initiatives are in line with the objectives outlined in the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), aimed at solidifying Saudi Arabia's position as a global logistics hub bridging continents and facilitating international trade.
