Riyadh, January 21, 2024, Saudi Ports Authority, known as Mawani, has been honored with the prestigious 'Best Contributor to Economic Infrastructure Development' award during the International Finance Financial Awards ceremony held in Dubai. This accolade highlights Mawani's continuous commitment to enhancing port infrastructure and attracting investments, as stated in a press release by the authority.
In 2023, Mawani initiated a substantial upgrade and operation of two container terminals at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, with a substantial investment exceeding SAR7 billion. Concurrently, strategic projects were launched at Jubail Commercial and Industrial Ports to augment capacity. Mawani further solidified its commitment to economic growth by signing agreements and inaugurating logistics parks and hubs, with investments surpassing SAR6 billion. These endeavors align with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, offering investment opportunities in the logistics sector to the private sector.
In an effort to fortify the Kingdom's role as an international logistics hub connecting three continents, Mawani took significant strides in 2023. This involved streamlining export and import procedures, improving logistics services, and collaborating with major international shipping lines to introduce 28 new maritime services. These services establish vital connections between Saudi ports and those in the eastern and western regions. Additionally, Mawani entered into several agreements with international ports and national entities from both the public and private sectors, aimed at elevating the status of Saudi ports in the maritime transport sector globally and regionally.
The 'Best Contributor to Economic Infrastructure Development' award is a testament to Mawani's international and regional recognition for its endeavors in advancing the maritime sector. Throughout 2023, Mawani received seven awards on both regional and international platforms. These include distinctions such as the 'Best Port' represented by Jeddah Islamic Port, the 'Brand Award,' 'Port of the Year' for Jeddah Islamic Port, and recognition in categories such as 'Excellence in Customer Experience' and 'Advanced Ports Infrastructure.'
Furthermore, Mawani secured two categories in the 'NIDLP Excellence Award 2023': 'Best Entities Achieving International Accomplishments' and 'Best Entities Achieving Investments.' These accolades underscore Mawani's significant contribution, propelling the Kingdom from 24th to 16th globally in container handling, according to the Lloyd's List 2023 ranking of the world's top 100 ports.
The International Finance Awards, presented by International Finance Publications Limited, a reputable trade and financial magazine based in the United Kingdom, commend financial institutions and companies for their noteworthy contributions to the global financial community.
