Riyadh, February 28, 2024, In a strategic collaboration between the King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education, the names of 35 exceptional students have been unveiled to represent Saudi Arabia at the prestigious Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2024). The event is slated to take place in Los Angeles, USA, in May.
Dr. Amal Al-Hazzaa, the Secretary-General of Mawhiba, elucidated that the 35 students selected to form the Saudi Science and Engineering Team distinguished themselves as winners of top honors at the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity 2024. Following their outstanding performance, they underwent rigorous training during a qualifying program hosted at the Mishkat Interactive Center of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy in Riyadh.
Dr. Al-Hazzaa elaborated on the meticulous selection process, which commenced with 210,000 students, both male and female, hailing from diverse regions of Saudi Arabia and spanning 21 scientific disciplines. Through six rigorous stages, culminating in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity Exhibition at King Saud University in Riyadh from January 31 to February 4, the pool was narrowed down. Ultimately, 180 exceptional students earned nominations, among whom 45 emerged as recipients of the prestigious Grand Creativity Awards.
