Riyadh, February 19, 2024, Today in Riyadh, Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari unveiled the digital platform for the Saudi Encyclopedia (saudipedia.com) as part of the activities held during the Future of Media Exhibition (FOMEX) accompanying the Saudi Media Forum. The launch event saw the presence of Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Alswaha alongside numerous officials from Arab and international media outlets.
The Saudi Encyclopedia stands as a pivotal initiative under the Human Capability Development Program, a key component of Saudi Vision 2030. Its primary objective is to serve as a comprehensive knowledge hub about the Kingdom, disseminating accurate and reliable information in an encyclopedic format. The platform is poised to emerge as the go-to resource for Saudi-related information, catering to diverse linguistic needs.
Al-Dosari emphasized the commencement of work on Saudipedia, aligning with the vision set forth by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to cultivate a flourishing society deeply rooted in its rich history, heritage, and cultural identity.
"Saudipedia aims to establish itself as the authoritative source of information encompassing the leadership, people, history, geography, and culture of Saudi Arabia," remarked Al-Dosari. "Our endeavor involves offering a multilingual platform, commencing with Arabic."
Saudipedia will provide extensive coverage across various domains, including culture, society, economy, politics, geography, and history, serving as a credible resource for regional, Arab, and international media. It will incorporate multimedia elements to enrich its textual content and undergo regular updates to reflect the Kingdom's cultural, civilizational, historical, and geographical richness.
