Jeddah, October 19, 2023, In the backdrop of the 9th Session of the Conference of Environment Ministers in the Islamic World held in Jeddah, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli, engaged in a significant meeting with Dr. Salim Al-Malik, the Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).
The meeting was a platform to explore ways to strengthen cooperation between the Ministry and ICESCO, particularly in the realm of environmental protection. The focus revolved around fostering innovative, measurable, and adaptable initiatives that align with each country's specific needs and priorities, aiming for collective success.
Minister Al-Fadhli emphasized Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing collaboration with ICESCO and other Islamic nations to tackle the challenges and adverse impacts of climate change, with a specific focus on water and food security. The Ministry expressed its readiness to share Saudi expertise, particularly in water desalination and various environmental projects.
Dr. Al-Malik expressed his gratitude to Saudi Arabia, specifically the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, for hosting the conference. He reiterated ICESCO's eagerness to further amplify their partnership with the Ministry, underscoring their joint involvement in organizing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Award for Environmental Management in the Islamic World. This award, presided over by the Ministry, has ICESCO managing its secretariat.
