Riyadh, October 12, 2023, Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, the Minister of Transport and Logistics and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, expressed his deep appreciation to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for launching the master plan for the new Abha International Airport. He also acknowledged the vital role played by Asir Governor Prince Turki bin Talal in supporting regional transport and logistics projects.
Al-Jasser commended the Crown Prince's commitment to enhancing the aviation sector, underlining that this master plan aligns with the broader aviation strategy, encompassing strategic projects to bolster the Kingdom's standing as an international aviation and logistics hub. The plan seeks to expand passenger capacity, flight frequencies, and air connectivity in the Asir Region, fostering increased air traffic and supporting tourism and quality of life initiatives to achieve sustainable development and economic diversification as outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.
Highlighting the sector's significant transformation, Al-Jasser revealed multiple strategic projects that aim to enhance aviation's service, economic, and development contributions. These initiatives strive to increase international destinations, transport passenger numbers, and expand air freight capabilities substantially.
