Minister of Culture meets with UNESCO Director-General in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, September 11, 2023, On the sidelines of the 45th extended session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, met with the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Audrey Azoulay, it was reported today. The Minister of Culture welcomed the Director General of UNESCO to Riyadh at the beginning of the meeting, which took place yesterday, and praised UNESCO for its work in cultural preservation and protection. In this regard, the Minister of Culture emphasized the desire and interest of the Kingdom to host the 2025 Mongolia Conference, the next UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development. Aspects of the Kingdom's and UNESCO's collaboration in maintaining and protecting world heritage were reviewed during the meeting.

The Kingdom will continue to support the initiatives and plans put out by UNESCO, the Minister of Culture reaffirmed.

The Assistant Minister of Culture, Rakan bin Ibrahim Al-Touq, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Hamed bin Mohammad Fayez, and other top officials were present at the meeting.
