Minister of Islamic Affairs: Women's Rights in Saudi Arabia Emerge as Commendable Model


Progress in Women's Rights: Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh highlighted Saudi Arabia's advancements in women's rights under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, including women's achievements in education, healthcare, finance, and leadership.


Global Achievements: The minister cited notable examples of Saudi women's global success, such as the Director-General of the Centre for Excellence in Nanomedicine and Engineering at the University of California.


Conference Goals: He expressed hope that the conference would generate recommendations to further enhance the role of Muslim women in strengthening families, promoting Islamic values, and contributing to a peaceful society.

At the 35th International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, titled "Role of Women in Building Awareness," held in Cairo, Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, delivered a significant address highlighting Saudi Arabia’s advancements in women's rights. The minister underscored these strides as a testament to the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the steadfast support of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.


In his speech, Sheikh Dr. Al Al-Sheikh lauded the substantial progress Saudi women have achieved across various sectors, including education, healthcare, finance, employment, and leadership. He pointed out that Saudi women have not only secured ministerial positions but have also been appointed as ambassadors and have taken on influential roles within the Shura Council. This progress reflects the Kingdom's commitment to gender equality and empowerment.


The minister highlighted notable global achievements of Saudi women, citing the example of a Saudi woman who served as the Director-General of the Centre for Excellence in Nanomedicine and Engineering at the University of California. This exemplifies the high caliber of Saudi women in fields of international significance.


Sheikh Dr. Al Al-Sheikh also praised the achievements of Saudi women in business, education, healthcare, technology, and space exploration. He noted that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has been proactive in empowering women by appointing them to leadership positions and involving them in religious guidance and education.
