Riyadh, December 19, 2023, On Monday, Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari, who also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Media Regulation, officially launched the strategy and identity of the regulatory body. This development follows the Cabinet's approval of the organization of the authority.
The newly unveiled strategy outlines the authority's ambition to position the media sector in the Kingdom as a leader on regional and international fronts. It aims to boost the sector's investment attractiveness and elevate the proficiency of its national workforce.
At the core of the strategy is the goal to significantly increase the media sector's contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP), with a target of reaching SAR47 billion by the year 2030. This strategic vision is grounded in recognizing the abundant opportunities within the sector that can be harnessed to diversify the national economy and augment the non-oil GDP in the Kingdom.
The launch of this strategy underscores the commitment of the General Authority of Media Regulation to not only regulate the media landscape but also to play a proactive role in shaping and advancing the sector.
