Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Meets with French President's Special Envoy for the One Water Summit


Riyadh, October 15, 2024 – Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Envoy, His Excellency Adel Al-Jubeir, held a significant meeting with Barbara Pompili, the French President's Special Envoy for the One Water Summit. The meeting, which took place in Riyadh, focused on exploring areas of mutual cooperation between Saudi Arabia and France in addressing global water resource challenges.


One of the central topics of discussion was Saudi Arabia’s active role in water conservation, including the Kingdom's recent establishment of the World Water Organization. This organization aims to provide a global platform for collaborative efforts to tackle water-related challenges, such as water scarcity, pollution, and sustainable water management. Minister Al-Jubeir outlined Saudi Arabia’s initiatives in this area, emphasizing the Kingdom's commitment to finding innovative and sustainable solutions for conserving water resources.


Barbara Pompili, representing France's One Water Summit initiative, expressed France’s interest in working closely with Saudi Arabia to address pressing global water issues. The two sides discussed opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation, share expertise, and develop joint programs aimed at promoting sustainable water use. Both parties reaffirmed the importance of international collaboration in combating water scarcity and ensuring the long-term sustainability of global water resources.


The meeting underscored the importance of water conservation in global environmental and climate change discussions, with both Saudi Arabia and France pledging to intensify their efforts to address these challenges through international forums and cooperative initiatives.
