Washington, Dec 9, 2023, Members of the Ministerial Committee, appointed by the Riyadh-hosted Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit and led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, conducted a panel discussion on Gaza developments at the Wilson Center in Washington, United States of America, on Friday.
Participating in the panel discussion were Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al Thani, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
During the discussion, committee members underscored that the ongoing military operations and escalation in Gaza are unjustified and constitute violations of international laws and humanitarian norms. They called for an immediate ceasefire, emphasizing the critical need for a halt to hostilities.
Committee members also pointed out that the aid currently reaching the Gaza Strip is insufficient given the magnitude of the crisis, urging the international community to establish secure channels for the swift delivery of additional medical, food, and other essential aid.
Furthermore, the diplomats stressed the paramount importance of ending the military escalation and focusing on achieving a ceasefire at the present moment. They called for urgent action, making the ceasefire a top priority during this challenging and critical stage for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The representatives reiterated their countries' determination to continue collaborative efforts with all partners to establish peace and security in the region.
