Ministry inaugurates gift program, distributing dates and Iftar in Sri Lanka

Colombo, March 19, 2024, Today marked the inauguration of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Gift Programs by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, signaling the commencement of efforts to distribute dates and provide Iftar meals to fasting individuals in Sri Lanka.

Representatives from the Ministry, including the Religious Attache at the Kingdom's Embassy in New Delhi, gathered at the embassy headquarters in Colombo for the occasion. Among the distinguished attendees were Saudi Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Khalid bin Hamoud Al-Qahtani, and Faizal Abdeen, Director of the Muslim Affairs Department at the Sri Lankan Ministry of Religions, alongside several heads of Islamic centers in Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Al-Qahtani underscored the Saudi leadership's unwavering commitment to extending aid to Muslims globally, emphasizing that the establishment of these projects, as directed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, during Ramadan underscores the kingdom's dedication to supporting Islamic causes worldwide. He highlighted how these initiatives reflect the leadership's genuine concern for Islamic welfare and aim to address the needs of Muslims during the sacred month.

Expressing their gratitude, members of Islamic centers and associations in Sri Lanka conveyed appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince for their continuous support in launching charitable endeavors aimed at serving Islam and Muslims.
