Smart Devices Serve Pilgrims’ Languages
Saudi Arabia is revolutionizing spiritual services at the Grand Mosque. On May 23, 2025, the Presidency of Religious Affairs, through its Agency for Dawah and Guidance Affairs, launched the “In Their Languages” program—a pioneering effort to communicate with pilgrims in their native languages using smart translation technology.
These compact, intelligent devices come equipped with a touch screen, three buttons, and offer instant audio, text, and visual display in multiple languages. With a 16-hour battery life, the tools allow field staff from the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice to provide faith-based guidance seamlessly during Hajj.
This innovation ensures that pilgrims—regardless of nationality—can receive authentic religious instruction that helps them perform rituals correctly and understand the Prophet’s teachings, elevating their spiritual experience.
