Beijing, March 11, 2024, Asian shares experienced mixed performance on Monday, according to the AP. Japan's Nikkei 225 index witnessed a decline of 2.2%, reaching 38,820.49. On the other hand, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose by 1.4% to 16,574.65, and the Shanghai Composite saw a slight increase of 0.2% to 3,052.38.
In other parts of Asia, South Korea's Kospi fell by 0.8% to 2,659.53, and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 dropped by 1.8% to 7,704.20.
Regarding commodities, US benchmark crude oil lost 42 cents, reaching $77.59 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after falling 92 cents to $78.01 a barrel on Friday. Brent crude oil, the international standard, declined by 34 cents to $81.74 per barrel.
In currency markets, the US dollar weakened against the Japanese yen, falling to 146.99 from 147.07 yen. The euro also saw a slight decrease, dropping to $1.0936 from $1.0941.
