Cairo, September 05, 2023, Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Tuwaijri, Director of the Harmonized System Department at the Saudi Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA), presided over the inaugural meeting of the Translation Harmonization Committee for 2023, which got underway today at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo. The World Customs Organization (WCO), which regularly updates the Harmonized System explanations in both English and French every five years, is expected to translate the updates made to the explanations into Arabic for the 2022 edition during the three-day meeting. A division of the General Customs Directors Committee in Arab nations is the Translation Harmonization Committee of the AL. Its main objectives are the translation, revision, and explanation of the WCO's Harmonized System table as well as the articles of the Harmonized System.
The commodities involved in cross-border trade are all included in the Harmonized System table.
It is separated into 97 customs subheadings, which are further classified into 21 parts as groupings.
