MAKKAH March 29, 2025 — The Grand Mosque in Makkah welcomed over 4.1 million worshippers and Umrah pilgrims on the 29th night of Ramadan, a spiritually significant occasion marked by the Qur’an completion (Khatm Al-Qur’an) prayers.
Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah reported that more than 3.4 million worshippers attended Isha and Taraweeh prayers, while over 646,600 pilgrims performed Umrah.
Additionally, around 28,200 individuals used mobility carts, 135,600 benefited from location guidance services, and over 42,000 bottles of Zamzam water, along with 702,000 iftar meals, were distributed.
Worshippers began arriving early, filling every area of the Grand Mosque, including its corridors, courtyards, and the Mataf area around the Kaaba.
Pilgrims and worshippers performed their rituals in a peaceful and reverent atmosphere, hoping to experience the blessings of Laylat Al-Qadr.
The seamless operations were made possible through the Kingdom’s leadership, ensuring safety and comfort for all visitors. The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque mobilized all resources in coordination with relevant authorities.
Measures were implemented to direct crowds into designated prayer zones, facilitate movement for the elderly and disabled, and enhance services. Directional signage was improved, restrooms were fully equipped, and over 33,000 prayer carpets were arranged.
Zamzam distribution points were set up with both chilled and unchilled water available throughout the night. Door systems were optimized for smooth entry and exit, with designated areas for elderly and disabled worshippers.
Emergency response teams were also deployed to ensure a safe and well-managed experience for all.
