"Makkah, June 18, 2024." The Hajj season this year (1445 AH) saw the removal of over 90,000 tons of rubbish from Makkah and its precious spots. As of yesterday, the holy sites accounted for a total of approximately 7,438 tons, with Makkah accounting for 80,361 tons during that time period. The Makkah Municipality dispatched field teams, personnel, and equipment to visit the holy sites. Their manufacturing of simple equipment, such as compact cleaning carts, made it easier for them to reach locations inaccessible to larger vehicles, especially in crowded situations with limited space. They also used 1,135 garbage compactor stations and 113 shops to temporarily gather and store rubbish. To help with waste collection, the holy sites established a total of 28 service facilities. There were three of these centers in Arafat, three in Muzdalifah, and twenty-two in Mina. These facilities, which are dispersed around the region to serve the whole area, are in charge of upholding environmental sanitation and public hygiene.
