MoU between Saudi Health Minister and Moroccan Equivalent to Strengthen Health Cooperation.

Bilateral Meeting: Saudi Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel and Moroccan Minister of Health Khalid Ait Taleb met in Rabat to enhance cooperation in the health sector, with the meeting attended by Saudi Ambassador Dr. Sami bin Abdullah Alsaleh and a Saudi health delegation.


MoU Signed: The two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) focusing on health transformation, service quality improvement, and preventive measures, covering areas such as therapeutic and preventive medicine, digital health, and pandemic management.


Institutional Visits: Al-Jalajel, along with Ambassador Alsaleh and Assistant Deputy Minister Rakan Khalid bin Dohaish, visited the National Institute of Health and a vaccine manufacturing plant in Morocco to explore collaborative opportunities in health sector development.


Rabat, August 18, 2024 – During his official visit to Rabat, Saudi Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel met with Moroccan Minister of Health and Social Protection Khalid Ait Taleb to discuss and enhance bilateral cooperation in the health sector. The meeting was also attended by Saudi Ambassador to Morocco Dr. Sami bin Abdullah Alsaleh and a delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Health. The primary focus of the meeting was on strengthening health cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Morocco. Both ministers explored ways to enhance coordination in alignment with broader Arab efforts to advance global health initiatives. A significant outcome of the meeting was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries. This MoU aims to deepen health partnerships by focusing on several key areas, including health transformation, improving service quality, and enhancing preventive measures against health risks. The MoU covers a range of topics, such as therapeutic and preventive medicine, digital health innovations, and effective pandemic management. It is intended to support and develop health services in both nations and facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge. In his remarks to the media, Minister Al-Jalajel highlighted that his visit is a reflection of the strong historical ties between Saudi Arabia and Morocco, emphasizing that the MoU is part of the broader framework of joint Arab action. He noted that the agreement aligns with the objectives of the two countries’ health ministries to bolster health cooperation, including the sharing of expertise and scientific research. During his visit, accompanied by Ambassador Alsaleh and Assistant Deputy Minister of Health for International Collaboration Rakan Khalid bin Dohaish, Minister Al-Jalajel toured several key institutions in Morocco. His itinerary included visits to the National Institute of Health and a vaccine manufacturing plant. These visits provided opportunities to discuss potential collaborations in developing and advancing the health sector in both Saudi Arabia and Morocco.
