Makkah, February 14, 2024, The Muslim World League (MWL), in collaboration with the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina, convened a regional conference in Sarajevo, the capital city, with the primary objective of advancing principles of tolerance, coexistence, and peace.
This gathering was convened to fortify these fundamental values and uphold the strides made in this arena amid ongoing global developments. The conference's inauguration was presided over by Zeljko Komsic, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the esteemed presence of Mohammed Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the MWL, and the Speaker of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The conference garnered significant participation from a diverse array of political figures, including parliamentary and governmental representatives, religious leaders, and members of civil society from across the Balkans.
In his inaugural address, Komsic emphasized the pivotal importance of the conference, commending the unprecedented diversity in attendance and engagement. The central focus of the event remained steadfast on the promotion of tolerance, coexistence, and peace.
During the opening ceremony, Al-Issa praised the cohesion and solidarity exemplified by the Balkan model, highlighting its ability to glean lessons from history. He lauded the model's sagacity and acumen in navigating critical issues.
Al-Issa underscored that the Balkan model epitomizes a chapter of civilization oriented towards the future and the welfare of forthcoming generations, transcending obstacles and adversities. He further emphasized that the Balkan model serves as an inspirational archetype for others, drawing insights from its own historical narrative and averting the painful repercussions of religious, ethnic, and partisan conflicts.
