Makkah, August 19, 2024 — Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, has recently inaugurated several significant humanitarian projects in Kenya, reflecting MWL's ongoing commitment to global humanitarian efforts.

One of the notable projects inaugurated is a major initiative aimed at combating blindness, specifically targeting cataract-related vision loss. This project, in collaboration with Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital, will involve performing surgeries to treat hundreds of individuals suffering from cataracts. The program also includes comprehensive eye examinations, as well as the provision of essential medications and medical supplies to ensure effective treatment and recovery. The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials from the Kenyan Ministry of Health and various humanitarian organizations active across Africa, underscoring the collaborative effort involved.

In addition to the blindness prevention project, Sheikh Al-Issa visited a slum development project in Kenya, which is under the supervision of MWL in partnership with several international organizations. During his visit, Al-Issa announced MWL's commitment to addressing the community's energy needs by providing solar energy solutions. This initiative aims to enhance living conditions in the underserved areas by supplying a sustainable and reliable source of power.

Furthermore, Sheikh Al-Issa participated in the signing of a cooperation agreement between MWL and the Hepatitis Fund. This agreement focuses on providing crucial prevention, treatment, and care measures for individuals affected by hepatitis, a disease that poses a significant health risk to millions worldwide. The partnership seeks to expand access to necessary healthcare services and support efforts to combat the spread of hepatitis.

Through these initiatives, MWL continues to demonstrate its dedication to addressing critical health and development challenges in vulnerable communities, contributing to both immediate relief and long-term improvements in quality of life.
