The designs of janbiyas in Najran’s markets range from traditional styles for young men to more luxurious versions with silver and intricate engravings, showcasing the region’s unique craftsmanship in janbiya-making. Local citizen Saleh Hussein Al-Yami emphasized that the janbiya is worn proudly during Eid and other national and social occasions, symbolizing authenticity, joy, pride, and belonging. It stands as a testament to a rich cultural legacy, renewed each time it is worn at festive gatherings during Eid Al-Fitr. Handcrafted in Najran with exceptional artistry, the janbiya features a mix of engraving techniques on silver, leather, and wood, with a steel blade, making each one a unique masterpiece that reflects the region’s creative history.
