RIYADH, April 1, 2025 – The janbiya dagger of Najran represents cultural heritage, authenticity, and history, passed down through generations and worn during celebrations and public events as part of local identity, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Janbiya designs in Najran’s markets range from traditional styles for young men to luxurious versions embellished with silver and detailed engravings, showcasing the region's craftsmanship.

Saleh Hussein Al-Yami, a local resident, explained that the janbiya is worn during Eid and national and social events as a symbol of authenticity, joy, pride, and belonging.

He added that the dagger represents a rich cultural heritage, renewed with each celebration, and is worn by all age groups during Eid Al-Fitr gatherings throughout the region.

Handcrafted with care in Najran, the janbiya features detailed engravings on silver, leather, and wood, with a steel-forged blade, as reported by the SPA.

Each janbiya is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, preserving a long-standing tradition of creativity and craftsmanship, ensuring the heritage is passed down through generations.
