National Center for Meteorology warns of dust-stirring winds in Saudi regions

Riyadh, March 05, 2024, As per the latest update from the National Center for Meteorology, several regions in Saudi Arabia are expected to experience dust-stirring winds, particularly in Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, and the southern parts of the Eastern Region. Concurrently, these areas will witness light to moderate rainfall, with the possibility of fog formation over the highlands of Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah.

The weather forecast also indicates brisk winds over the southern parts of the Eastern Region and Riyadh, extending towards Najran. Over the Red Sea, the winds are expected to be northerly to northwesterly, with speeds ranging from 20-40 km/h in the northern part and 15-35 km/h in the central part. In the southern part, the winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly, reaching speeds of 15-50 km/h. Waves are projected to be between one to two meters in the northern part and one to one and a half meters in the southern and central parts, resulting in a relatively calm to choppy sea.

Moving to the Arabian Gulf, the forecast indicates northeasterly to northwesterly winds, ranging from 15-35 km/h in the northern part. In the southern part, the winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly, reaching speeds of 15-50 km/h, accompanied by thunderclouds. Waves in the southern part of the Gulf are anticipated to range from half a meter to two and a half meters, contributing to a sea state ranging from calm to choppy.
