National Nutrition Committee Holds its Sixth Meeting to Highlight Key Initiatives and Achievements


The National Nutrition Committee (NNC) held its sixth meeting of the second session in Riyadh, chaired by SFDA CEO Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey.


The meeting reviewed the NNC’s key initiatives and achievements up to Q3 2024, focusing on projects aimed at improving community nutritional status.


Established under Cabinet resolution no. 144 in March 2019, the NNC provides scientific advice and recommendations to enhance Saudi Arabia’s nutritional and health conditions.


In Riyadh, on August 27, 2024, the National Nutrition Committee (NNC) convened its sixth meeting of the second session. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey, the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and Chairman of the NNC. The gathering took place at the SFDA's headquarters and was attended by NNC members representing both government and private sectors.


During the meeting, the General Secretariat of the NNC presented a detailed update on its key initiatives and achievements up to the third quarter of 2024. This included a review of the progress made on various projects and initiatives designed to improve the community’s nutritional status. The NNC’s focus is on enhancing the nutritional and health conditions in Saudi Arabia through expert recommendations and scientific opinions provided to relevant authorities.


The NNC, established under Cabinet resolution no. 144 on March 5, 2019, operates as a scientific advisory committee. It plays a crucial role in shaping the nutritional policies and practices in the Kingdom by bringing together members from various government authorities, nutrition experts, and private sector representatives.
