NCM predicts diverse weather in upcoming days across Saudi Arabia regions

Riyadh, March 02, 2024, As per the National Center for Meteorology (NCM), varied weather conditions are anticipated across different regions of Saudi Arabia in the coming days. The forecast includes the likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by brisk winds, potentially stirring up dust in Jazan, Assir, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions. This weather pattern may extend to the southern parts of the Madinah Region, with the possibility of fog formation in various areas.

The impact of active winds is projected to persist in parts of Najran, Riyadh, and Madinah regions, possibly reaching into portions of Hail and Qassim regions. Residents and travelers should be prepared for varying wind speeds and potential dust activity in these areas.

Over the Red Sea, prevailing winds are anticipated to be north to northwesterly, reaching speeds of 15-35 km/h in the northern part, northwesterly to southwesterly at speeds of 10-30 km/h in the central part, and southeasterly to southwesterly at speeds of 15-40 km/h in the southern part, peaking at 50 km/h towards the Bab Al-Mandab strait. Wave heights will vary, ranging from half a meter to one meter in the central part, one to one and a half meters in the northern and southern parts, and potentially exceeding two and a half meters towards Bab Al-Mandab strait. Sea conditions are expected to be relatively calm in the central part, transitioning to calm to choppy in the northern and southern parts, and potentially developing into wavy conditions towards Bab Al-Mandab strait.

In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds are predicted to be northwesterly to north at speeds of 10-30 km/h before shifting to eastern to southeastern at speeds of 10-25 km/h in the northern and central parts. The southern part may experience northeastern to southeastern winds at speeds ranging from 15-35 km/h. Wave heights will vary from one to one and a half meters in the northern and central parts to half a meter to one and a half meters in the southern part. Sea conditions are expected to be relatively calm in the northern and central parts, with the potential for calm to choppy conditions in the southern part.
