On October 8, 2024, NEOM announced a strategic partnership with a prominent Saudi construction and engineering firm to develop and operate a state-of-the-art ready-mix concrete facility valued at SAR 700 million. This new facility, which will comprise multiple production plants, is a critical component in the ongoing construction of THE LINE, the ambitious linear city at the heart of NEOM’s urban development project.
In a press release, NEOM highlighted that the advanced concrete factory will play a vital role in accelerating the construction of THE LINE. The CEO of NEOM, Nadhmi Al-Nasr, emphasized the importance of this partnership in driving the project forward, stating, “The delivery of these concrete plants is another testament to the rapid progress happening at NEOM. It also underscores the strength of the Kingdom’s construction industry and the critical role local partnerships play in delivering this transformational project efficiently and sustainably.”
One of the standout features of the concrete production facility is its incorporation of cutting-edge technologies, including carbon capture and utilization (CCU) systems and energy-saving measures. These innovations align with NEOM’s vision for sustainable development. The majority of the concrete produced will be used for the substructure and superstructure of THE LINE, ensuring a steady supply of core materials as the project advances.
The facility, which is set to become operational next month, has already mobilized a fleet of support vehicles to kickstart operations. Peak production is expected to be reached by 2025. The factory is also poised to create more than 500 local jobs, boosting employment in the region. As construction on THE LINE gathers pace, work has begun on the foundation piles, with 1,000 of the 30,000 piles already in place, signaling the rapid progress of this visionary development.
