NEOM, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, April 14, 2024 – NEOM, the groundbreaking sustainable development project in northwest Saudi Arabia, recently convened more than 100 of the world's leading construction companies for a two-day industry forum at its site. This gathering, held within NEOM itself, showcased the ongoing construction progress while shedding light on upcoming developments as NEOM progresses into the next phase of its extensive project portfolio.
As NEOM's projects enter a new stage of implementation, the need for top-tier construction expertise becomes crucial to realize some of the most ambitious development endeavors globally. Notably, this includes THE LINE, a 170-kilometer-long city currently under modular construction. The first phase of THE LINE is slated to welcome residents by 2030. The forum underscored the importance of innovation in the industry, highlighting that traditional construction methods may not suffice given NEOM's scale and complexity. Participants also received updates on the progress of key projects within NEOM, such as THE LINE, the Spine, Oxagon, Trojena, and the NEOM International Airport.
The forum commenced with an address by Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM, emphasizing the monumental opportunities across NEOM as it enters a phase of rapid development. Attendees gained valuable insights into upcoming opportunities, visited project sites for firsthand observations of ongoing construction, and engaged in one-on-one meetings to discuss specific business prospects as contractors showcased their capabilities.
The forum welcomed a diverse array of firms from Saudi Arabia and international companies from Asia, Europe, North America, and North Africa. Construction activities are underway across NEOM, employing a workforce exceeding 140,000. With the collaboration of participating companies, the workforce is expected to surpass 200,000 by the following year, further propelling NEOM's transformative vision into reality.
