NEOM, December 10, 2023, NEOM, the ambitious sustainable regional development project in northwestern Saudi Arabia, has officially introduced Topian, the NEOM Food Company, marking a significant step toward redefining food production, distribution, and consumption.
Topian is poised to revolutionize the food industry through its commitment to five key vertical pillars: climate-proof agriculture, regenerative aquaculture, novel foods, personalized nutrition, and sustainable food supply with a focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations. Backed by the support of the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA), Topian aligns with the vision of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to enhance food security, combat climate change, and achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.
NEOM CEO Nadhmi Al-Nasr expressed the significance of Topian in advancing human progress and creating a positive, transformative impact not only in Saudi Arabia but globally. The innovative approach of Topian, referred to as the "Art of More with Less," aims to shape the future of sustainable and secure food production. Al-Nasr emphasized the collaborative efforts with investors, partners, and industry experts to turn ambitious ideas into reality, fostering economic diversification in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
Topian's CEO, Dr. Juan Carlos Motamayor, highlighted the company's alignment with NEOM's commitment to providing high-quality food products, promoting food security, sustainability, and contributing to the Kingdom's self-sufficiency objectives. Topian aims to lead the conversation on food security by creating a resilient food supply in line with the Saudi Green Initiative and the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals.
The launch concept of Topian, known as "Future to Table," introduces innovative solutions and initiatives to revolutionize the global food system. The initiative addresses challenges stemming from population growth, changing consumption patterns, climate change, and the depletion of natural resources.
Topian has entered into strategic partnerships with local and international organizations, including King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Tabuk University, Tabuk Fish Company, BlueNalu, Van der Hoeven Horticultural Projects, and Cargill. These collaborations aim to drive research and development initiatives, leveraging partners' expertise to develop innovative and sustainable approaches to food production.
In addition to its commitment to NEOM CARE's partnership, Topian is dedicated to educational initiatives promoting local sustainable gastronomy. The company plans to nurture Saudi talent through training opportunities and chef camps, contributing to the development of a more secure, sustainable, and prosperous future for all.
