NEOM Launches Topian, a Revolutionary Food Company Focused on Sustainability and Innovation

NEOM, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, December 10, 2023: NEOM, the sustainable regional development project in northwestern Saudi Arabia, has announced the launch of 'Topian,' the NEOM Food Company. Topian aims to redefine food production, distribution, and consumption through innovative and sustainable solutions across five vertical pillars: climate-proof agriculture, regenerative aquaculture, novel foods, personalized nutrition, and sustainable food supply with a focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).

Topian, launched with the support of the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), is in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, emphasizing food security, climate change mitigation, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.

The concept of 'Future to Table' will guide Topian's initiatives, introducing innovative solutions to revolutionize the global food system. The company aims to address challenges arising from population growth, changing consumption patterns, climate change, and natural resource depletion.

Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM, expressed NEOM's dedication to creating a positive transformation, stating, "Topian’s innovative approach will be a key driver in shaping the future landscape of a sustainable and secure food industry."

Dr. Juan Carlos Motamayor, CEO of Topian, highlighted the company's commitment to shaping a transformative global food system, setting a global benchmark with new technologies and solutions. Topian has already secured strategic partnerships with organizations such as King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Tabuk University, Tabuk Fish Company, BlueNalu, Van der Hoeven Horticultural Projects, and Cargill to drive research and development initiatives in sustainable food production.

Through partnerships, Topian aims to contribute to the Saudi Green Initiative and the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals, emphasizing education and talent development for local sustainable gastronomy. The company is poised to play a pivotal role in reshaping the future of food with a focus on sustainability and innovation.
