NEOM, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 24 December 2023 – NEOM, the futuristic mega-city project in Saudi Arabia, has announced the renaming of Al Suqor Club to NEOM Sports Club following the ownership transfer in June. As part of the Kingdom's privatization plans for sports clubs, NEOM Sports Club aims to play a significant role in promoting the sports industry and encouraging private sector involvement in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
Moaath Alohali has been appointed as the CEO of NEOM Sports Club, bringing valuable experience from his previous role as CEO of the Saudi Pro League team, Al Ettifaq. The club's new name and logo reflect its transformation under NEOM's ownership.
NEOM Sports Club is expected to contribute to NEOM's broader sports objectives and serve as a global hub for sports. The announcement marks a key milestone in NEOM's efforts to invest in active lifestyles, promote sporting entities, and support local talent.
Meshari Al-Motairi, Chairman of NEOM Sports Club, emphasized the club's commitment to developing sports in the Kingdom and contributing to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. NEOM Sports Club currently encompasses 13 different sports, including football, basketball, martial arts, and table tennis, catering to men, women, and children of all ages.
