DAMMAM — Georginio Wijnaldum, a midfielder for the Netherlands, has signed with Al-Ettifaq Club from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the Saudi club officially announced on Sunday.
32-year-old Wijnaldum started playing football in Feyenoord's youth ranks before making the jump to the senior squad.
He later traveled to PSV Eindhoven and finally made a name for himself playing for teams like Newcastle United and Liverpool in England.
The Dutch midfielder joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, and his loan to AS Roma in Italy came to an end during the current summer transfer window.
Since 2011, Wijnaldum has played a significant role in the Netherlands' national squad, which competed in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
He was unfortunately unable to participate in the most recent event owing to injuries; however, he did compete in the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament.
Wijnaldum has won multiple championships with the clubs he has played for throughout his career, with victories in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup among the highlights.
Following the signings of Englishman Jordan Henderson, Frenchman Moussa Dembélé, and Scottish player Jack Hendry, Wijnaldum is Al-Ettifaq's fourth foreign player.
