Turaif, March 4, 2024, The Truffle and Aromatic Plants Festival, organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture's Northern Border Region branch in Turaif Governorate, has attracted significant participation from both truffle enthusiasts and traders.
The festival has become a prominent platform for daily auctions, providing truffle hunters with the opportunity to sell their discoveries. Notably, prices at these auctions have reached SAR600 for a small box and SAR1,300 for a larger one, underscoring the economic value associated with these highly sought-after fungi.
The Northern Border Region is renowned for its diverse truffle varieties, encompassing white, black, and the unique Khalasi truffles, distinguished by their distinctive reddish hue.
In addition to the truffle auctions, the festival encompasses various pavilions and activities. This includes an exhibition dedicated to aromatic plants, showcasing their benefits. Another section focuses on the production of aromatic and wild seedlings and seeds, contributing to the promotion of sustainable practices.
