Riyadh, September 14, 2024 — The Ministry of Interior has announced a final ruling concerning General Khalid bin Qarar Al-Harbi, the former Director General of Public Security. This decision follows Royal Order No. A/60, issued on 30/1/1443 AH, which mandated his retirement and called for an investigation into several allegations against him, including the misappropriation of public funds for personal gain, forgery, bribery, and abuse of influence.
The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) conducted a thorough investigation and referred Al-Harbi to the appropriate court under the Criminal Procedures Law. The court has now delivered a final verdict, convicting him of bribery and forgery. As a result, Al-Harbi has been sentenced to ten years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of SAR 1,000,000, which will be deposited into the state treasury.
Additionally, the ruling includes a ten-year prison sentence for exploiting his position for personal gain, abusing government contracts, and embezzling public funds. Al-Harbi is also required to return SAR 10,084,303 in bribes and SAR 2,827,000 in embezzled funds to the state treasury. Furthermore, the court has ordered the confiscation of gifts valued at SAR 175,000, agricultural land acquired through his crimes, and SAR 584,000. The Ministry of Interior reaffirms the Saudi Arabian government's commitment to safeguarding public funds, combating corruption, and enforcing legal regulations to protect public interests.
