OIC approves Security Council Resolution for Sudan's Ramadan ceasefire

Jeddah, March 10, 2024, The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its approval of the Security Council Resolution, which advocates for a cessation of hostilities in the Republic of Sudan during Ramadan. OIC Secretary-General Hissein Taha previously urged all conflicting parties to halt hostilities and violence during Ramadan, calling for resumed negotiations for a lasting ceasefire. The OIC General Secretariat, in a recent statement, affirmed its support for regional and international efforts aiding the Sudanese people. It reiterated the OIC's commitment to leveraging its capabilities in alignment with Islamic Summit and Council of Foreign Ministers resolutions to support Sudan's quest for security, peace, and stability.
