Jeddah, May 12, 2024, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has urgently appealed to all its member states and other countries worldwide, as well as relief organizations, to assist the Afghani people affected by the ongoing floods.
According to local reports, Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province and at least three other neighbouring provinces were hit by flash flooding, resulting in numerous casualties. These losses are expected to continue rising after last Friday's heavy monsoon rains caused severe flooding, affecting hundreds of families and causing widespread damage to infrastructure, property, and farmland.
These flash floods came a few months after a series of deadly earthquakes rocked several provinces across the country.
