Jeddah, October 02, 2023, The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a strong condemnation regarding the "provocative act of desecration of copies of the Holy Quran" that occurred on September 30, 2023, in Malmo, Sweden. Despite repeated appeals to Swedish authorities to prevent such reprehensible incidents, the OIC expressed its deep concern in a press release.
OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha reaffirmed the organization's stance on this matter, as previously stated in a resolution adopted by the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers during its 18th Extraordinary Session held on July 31, 2023. The resolution addressed the recurring incidents of Quran desecration. The OIC continues to call upon the Swedish authorities to take immediate and decisive action against these provocative acts, which are viewed as manifestations of religious hatred and clear violations of international law. The OIC seeks to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future.
