OIC Envoy to Afghanistan Meets with Pakistan's Foreign Minister

Diplomatic Engagement: Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakheet of the OIC met with Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar, in Islamabad to discuss cooperation for stability and progress in Afghanistan.

Jeddah, October 31, 2024 — In a significant diplomatic engagement, Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakheet, the Special Envoy to Afghanistan and Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Social, and Cultural Affairs at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held a meeting with Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar. The discussions, conducted in Islamabad, underscored the deepening cooperation between the OIC and Pakistan on issues pertinent to peace, stability, and socio-economic progress in Afghanistan.


The meeting covered various points of mutual interest, focusing on ways to enhance the collaborative efforts aimed at stabilizing Afghanistan. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the socio-political and economic challenges that continue to affect Afghanistan, pledging to support initiatives that promote sustainable development and peace within the region. In addition to these discussions, Ambassador Bakheet delivered an official letter from the OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha to Minister Khar. This message provided an update on the OIC’s recent efforts in Afghanistan, highlighting current projects aimed at assisting Afghan communities through humanitarian aid, social development programs, and cultural preservation efforts.
