Jeddah, April 15, 2024, The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has voiced its apprehension regarding recent military developments and escalating tensions in the region. It has emphasized the necessity of de-escalation and exercising restraint, cautioning against actions that could further heighten tension and negatively impact regional security and stability.
In its statement, the OIC urged the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibility in maintaining international peace and security. It called upon the Council to actively work towards preventing any escalation in the region, underlining the critical role of international institutions in averting potential conflicts.
Furthermore, the OIC emphasized the importance of addressing recurring issues in the region, with a specific focus on resolving the Palestinian issue. It condemned Israeli aggression in Gaza and called for immediate measures to halt such actions, highlighting the urgency of finding a lasting and just solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
