Jeddah, August 30, 2023, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), strongly denounced the attempted military coup in the Gabonese Republic. He emphasized that the OIC is closely monitoring the situation and efforts to usurp power by force. Taha reaffirmed the need to uphold democratic institutions and the rule of law in order to preserve legitimate government in Gabon, and she pleaded with all parties to exercise moderation and work quickly to put things right.
