OIC Secretary-General condemns Israeli bombing of Gaza's Baptist Al-Ahli Hospital

Jeddah, October 18, 2023, Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has strongly denounced the Israeli occupation's bombing of the Baptist Al-Ahli Hospital in the Gaza Strip. This brutal act resulted in the tragic loss of hundreds of lives and left numerous innocent civilians injured.


Taha characterized this assault as a war crime that runs counter to all principles of humanity. He labeled it as an organized state-sponsored act of terrorism deserving accountability and punishment.


During an address at an urgent open-ended emergency meeting of the OIC's Executive Committee at the ministerial level, held at the organization's General Secretariat in Jeddah to address the Israeli aggression in Gaza, the Secretary-General conveyed unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people. He expressed ongoing support for their rightful struggle to attain self-determination and establish an independent and sovereign state.


Taha underscored the necessity of collective efforts to halt Israel's unprecedented aggression and to establish humanitarian corridors for the delivery of essential medical supplies, food, and basic necessities to the Gaza Strip.


In conclusion, he extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for convening this extraordinary meeting. He noted that this invitation underscores Saudi Arabia's unwavering support for Islamic causes, with the Palestinian issue being of utmost importance.
